Chromatic scale

Summary

The chromatic scale is the scale with twelve pitches, each a semitone or half step apart. It is useful to practice your fingering. Sometimes a small piece is played in solo's too.

There are some varieties how to play the scale. Here are some to practice.

Lazy fake chromatic scale

I call this the lazy fake chromatic scale, because it misses some notes. However, it's very easy to play.

Full chromatic scale with open strings

Take the lazy fake chromatic scale and add some open strings will give a full chromatic scale. Note that it does not fall nicely in a 4/4 rhythm, which adds an extra handicap.

Chromatic scale with open strings

Full chromatic scale without open strings

This is the most difficult of these variations. Also, it can be played starting from any fret!
